Sandy Row
This film was created from recorded interviews with the older generation in Sandy Row, kindly facilitated by Carr’s Court Sheltered Housing. The residents tell of their life experiences in one of Belfast’s tight knit inner-city communities with candour and humour, covering issues from housing conditions, working life, social life, and even the Belfast Blitz. The stories enable us to appreciate the roller coaster of change which inner-city communities face, as the city grows around them, and the community bonds which sustain them.
The film includes a rare interview with the ninety-nine year old Sandy Row woman Ellen Carson.
